My reflection on my hockey

During my two years here at RNS, I have been a committed member of the RNS Varsity Boys Hockey Team. Being on the team has taught me many different skills. Skills I have worked on this year are a good gap when playing defense and a good first pass as both of these things are very important to success as a hockey player at this level. It has taught me how to plan and organize my studying around the busy schedule that is our season. I have learned how to adjust to the new level of play which ...

In the short story “The Huntsman” Chekhov demonstrate the extreme verbal and physical abuse men were able to inflict on women in 19th century Russia without any repercussions or batted eyes, in order to call out the wrong doings women were subjected too. In “The Huntsman” a husband, Yegor Vlasych, and wife, Pelageya, run into each other in the woods; Chekhov uses dialog between the two characters to underline the violent transgressions women face. My time cooking for my self

This summer I lived by myself for 8 weeks in an apartment in Vancouver. During this time I was responsible for cooking, cleaning and doing my own laundry and any other small task associated with living by my self. My host family would drop off food once a week to me so in order to be successful I would have to plan out not only what I would eat but how much food I would eat that week. This created a couple different challenges for me as it took time to get into a rhythm wit...

I decided to compare the American Mardi Gras party to the French holiday of All Saints. All Saints' Day is celebrated on November 1st. All Saints' Day is a celebration celebrated the day after Halloween. It is a celebration to celebrate all the saints of the world recognized and unrecognized. All Saints' Day is celebrated by many sections of the Christian religion. On All Saints Day, it is traditional to hold a grand feast to celebrate the saints. In France and in the French-speaking world, t...

My thoughts on Pofrfirio Diaz

Posted by Andrew.martin00 on January 22, 2019 at 9:10 AM Comments comments (1)

In the early nineteenth centenary Porfirio Diaz seized power of Mexico through a military coup. Using some legal means but a vast majority of illegal and manipulative ways Diaz consolidated the power in the Mexican government and brought it under his control. Diaz used his patronage system, edited the Mexican constitution and gave extreme power to the Catholic church. Using all of the techniques Diaz gained complete control of the country and turned a once function democracy into an oligarchy...

Reflection on part of my school year from November

Last spring I interviewed to become a prefect at Rothesay Netherwood School. The area of interest I interviewed to be a prefect in was Interhouse, and I chose this because it was an area of the school I thought was important and helped bring the school community closer together. In the first few weeks of school Maddy and I planned Interhouse events that helped break the ice and bring people closer together. Since the first week of school there has not been much Interhouse activity, although S...
