The other day im sitting on the floor and i thought to my self th following questions here is my best answer to these questions enjoy
To what extent would you agree that the New Deal was responsible for ending the Great Depression in America?
Did it end the Great Depression?
Did it help everyone in ending the great depression?
The New Deal definately played a role in helping bring the United States out of the Great Depression by using a process called deficit spending. The United States government spent massive amounts of money on job programs in order to help employ millions of Americans. However the New Deal contained blatant racism and discrimination against African American people, so although the New Deal helped millions of Americans it mostly helped millions of white Americans, thus leaving their African American counterparts to fend for themself with little support from the government. The New Deal contained laws that would openly people of different races to be paid different amounts for the same amount of work. The New Deal was responsible for bringing some life back into the economy because the people who received jobs through the government work programs were now able to invest that money into other portions of the economy, such as buying groceries, or plates or even eventually bigger items such as a new car or nicer house. The New Deal which focuses on social benefits and direct hiring did not however lead to an increase in productivity. Without such a rise, fiscal spending can not permanently boost output. The hope with the job programs was that the money earned by the workers would then flow into other portions of the economy thus jump starting it out of the Great Depression. Although the New Deal definitely did help in some ways we did not see the number of investments added to the private economy equal those of before the Great Depression (1929) until the beginning of WWII (1941). WWII helped because the government spent a lot more money and effort on fundamental investment, which combined with the demands and importance of wartime production led to unprecedented leaps in productivity. Thus what truly brought the United States out of the Great Depression was WWII but to some extent the New Deal did help bring money back into the pockets of some Americans thus helping the American economy and slightly begin to help the United States out of the Great Depression, but to no extent would the New Deal alone have been able to bring the United States completely out of the Great Depression.
